Music Credits

Most musicians for the CD were Wellington NZ-based, such as Murray Iota on lead guitar in No Pearls for the Swine Blues and Another link to the chain and Rimutaka Prison Blues with Noel Forsyth on bass and Bill Brown on drums;

  • Cary Baxter on keyboard, Winnie Baxter his wife on backing vocals in Lord I'm having a Great Day and Poly Girl; with the sweet svelte and happy sound of Geoff Culverwell on trumpet, Cary Baxter on keyboard, Winnie Baxter and Trudy on backing vocals;
  • Through No Pearls for the Swine Blues, the great Stevie Ray Vaughan like blues leadbreaks resounded by Murray Iota,
  • The track ‘Another Link to the Chain' spelt out the perils when one becomes addicted to marijuana…Bill Brown’s drums sounded out a death march chant until the lyrics gave hope in the Lord’s saving grace.
  • And then there's lead guitarist, Runga Hema band backing on the track ‘Still Waters run deep’.  Runga’s guitar rings out with overwhelming conviction that compliments the depth a person can have for the Lord; Runga came up with an original rhythm and composed lead section – fantastic.
  • A sentimental and slight Country feel given to the track ‘Gonna Find my religion' with yet another lead guitarist called Kaisara Mauafua, Kevin Henderson on harmonica, Haydn Linney on Base, and Mike Conway on backing vocal, some clever programmed background sounds by Cary Baxter, vocalist Trudy also provides her harmonies along with Mike Conway.  Trudy reflected on the devotedness of her mother's love of the Lord and the power and forgiveness of the Lord, his ever-welcoming arms of love.
  • I’m Servin’ time for my crime, Jeff Duncan on lead guitar and base, Cary Baxter on keyboard, Phil Adams/Matrix engineer on drums – Trudy’s lyrics ascended from 14 years of observation of prisoners who had served time behind closed doors and the impact of loneliness in some cases.  Jesus suffered immeasurable pain and is our saving grace. The musicians playing depicted depth of despair and soul destruction.
  • Cary Baxter provided awesome programmed backing for Poly Girl – a song about where Trudy’s humble beginnings as Catholic and singing.
  • The other track was a reggae number purely devoted to Christ and his forgiveness for our sins – we’re always welcomed to start ‘afresh’.  Cary Baxter programmed this track with assistance from lead guitarist Arthur Atkinson.
  • Rimutaka Prison Blues sung and written by Trudy Stead, Ron Stuart on saxophone, Murray Iota on lead guitar, Noel Forsyth on base and Bill Brown on drums.  A song inspired through Prison Ministry.  Time in prison can be served with the knowledge that no matter how low one can feel, the love of the Lord is always strong and available to guide you through the process.
