1. Rimutaka Prison Blues

Psalm 111
Eight years of Prison Ministry in Rimutaka, Wellington Men’s and Women’s Prisons related that the blues are the loneliness, missing loved ones, being without freedom. The key to freedom is knowledge.

Verse 1
You give me food and shelter, you shine your light on me
Give me warmth in my shelter, you shine your light on me
Rimutaka prison blues
Won't keep your love from me

Verse 2
You sent the Chapel Service You shine your light on me
Gave me the key to freedom
You shine your light on me, Rimutaka prison blues
Won't keep your love from me

Chorus:
Once I felt rejected, I was lonely feeling down, you shone your light upon me
I was lost but now I'm found
Lord I found my redemption, my Saviour is you
Rimutaka prison blues, won't keep your love from me

Verse 3
You're my friend, you are my brother, you shine your light on me
‘ Cause in prison you're my brother, you shine your light on me
Rimutaka prison blues
Won't keep your love from me

2. Gonna Find My Religion

Matthew 7:7 – Ask and the gift will come, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you.

Verse 1
I’m going to the read the Word,
I’m going to make some friends,
Going to find out what its like, being alive
I remember the words that my mamma said
If you ever need a friend, the door is open wide.

Chorus:
Going to find me religion
Going to set myself free
Help me, set me free

Verse 2
I’m going down to the Church I’m going to meet the man
With the grey hair and the shirt that touches the floor
I remember the words that my mamma said
If you ever need a friend, his door is open’ wide.

Bridge:
He’ll tell me how to find my Jesus
He’ll place his hands above my head
And say, “I’m praying for your guidance and the Truth will set you free.”

3. No Pearls For The Swine Blues

(Matthew Chapter 7 Verse 6)
Prison Ministry offers hope for survival

Verse 1
I have pearls for the sinner, who chooses good over bad
Pearls for the sinner, who no longer wants to be bad
He says he's sorry for hurtin' you Lord
And makin' you feel oh so sad

Verse 2
You know the swine is so cool, he'll try to deceive you with his eyes
Oh the swine is so cool, with tears fallin' from crocodile's eyes
He'll have one eye cryin' out for you Lord
While the other eye, it laughs at you

Verse 3
And I cry Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on the sinner
I cry Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy on me
My pearls are for them who love you Lord
I'll not share my pearls with the swine

4. Break The Link To The Chain

Genesis 1 v26 – Take back control of your decision making.

Verse 1
He's a street corner waiter, a buyer, a seller, a user but not a town cryer
By word of mouth, his message was spread; It got around like the bullet with lead
'Cause it's the height of the summer, the leaves are bled, capsule waits for the oil
The lamb was recruited, finally cornered, another link for the chain.

Verse 2
Swastika on knuckle, ashen face, Hemp bag draped over a left shoulder
A victim of cabbage, marijuana that is, causing him to look in years, much older
He was sucked in with promises of coolness, and blinded with infatuation
The lamb was recruited, finally cornered, another link for the chain.

Bridge
He was searching for a peace of mind, The herb offered a higher plane
The herb he dated, put him to work on her chain

Verse 3
If the flesh was stronger, the lamb would be free, and the 'hit' he could take it or
leave it
Fearless of getting burnt, with fire he could play, while mind in the dreams
inflicted,
But her attraction's too strong and only time sings her song, soul destruction and
hole in sweet memory
The lamb was recruited, finally cornered, another link for the chain.

Verse 4
The alcoholic finds a sanction from a total change of mind, so too for the drug
dependant
Open your eyes, the Saviour you can find, and the peace of mind you'll be given
And discover the you, let your soul shine through, and get high on the love you
can inspire
'Cause you're a lamb worth saving, from immoral recruitment
Break the link to the chain
‘ Cause you're a lamb worth saving, from immoral recruitment
Break the link to the chain.

5. Oil In My Lamp

Reminder of, the suffering, he did for me, Aue Aue Aue

Singing, praises to you

E te Ariki, My heavenly Father, I love you

6. Lord I'm Having A Great Day

Phillipians 2

Verse 1
Life is good, You are my Holy one
You saved us, healed us, we were set free
To do your holy will
I've found love, I've found it in many forms
In my family, friends, music and laughter and life

Chorus:
Lord I'm having a great day, And I give it all to you
Lord I'm having a great day, I give it all to you

Verse 3
Love thy God
Love him with all your might
If you serve Him, the Kingdom of Heaven will be yours

I've found it in many forms
In my family, friends, music and laughter and life

Bridge:
Give me your Word, send me your people
So they can tell me about you and the promise you gave, If we love one another

Outro:
Lord I’m having a great day, I give it all to you
Lord I’m having a great day, I give it all to you

7. Still Waters Run Deep

Matthew Chapter 14: 25-33
Matthew Chapter 6 Verse 6

Chorus:
Still waters run deep, but not as deep as the love I feel for you Lord
I feel for you
Still waters run deep, I'm not afraid, as long as you're with me Lord,
You're with me

Verse 1
Show me the path that leads to your door
The shortest road's not always the best
I'm growing tired, but my heart won't rest
I want to do things your way
Send me your Spirit, to keep me strong I pray

Chorus:
Still waters run deep, but not as deep as the love that I feel for you Lord
I feel for you
Still waters run deep, I'm not afraid, as long as you're with me Lord
You're with me

Verse 2
Charity begins at home, in this house I am never alone
There's always laughter, a drama or moan
But when this house is empty, my heart is open
It welcomes you inside

Bridge:
And I have hope, I have love, and I have faith in you Lord
And I have hope, I have love, and I have faith in you Lord

8. Poly(nesian) Girl

Matthew: Chapter 22 Verses 34 – 40 The Greatest Commandment
I developed a passion to help those less fortunate than myself, a zest for all shapes of music, and a strong belief through Bible study that Charity begins at home.
Fashion and music may change but the Lord’s love is constant.

Verse 1
It began when I was the age of seven
I learnt about God in my catechism
I thought to myself, I want to sing it
My ears were ringin' with the sound of music
Now I was shy and from a poly family
My dad said stop dreamin, don’t be crazy
Poly girl, Poly Girl

Verse 2
Raisin' children, in the kitchen
Cook your husband’s tea
Stop dreamin' girl get on with it
Forget your fantasy
Well now the Lord had a special plan in mind for me
Cause I joined the band and met the man
With sticks and beat had he
We got married had some children
And the kitchen is a breeze
I'm singin' and I'm rappin' with the Word

Lets get together yea yea yea,
Singin’ praise to the Lord
Let’s get together yea yea yea
Glory and praise to the Lord
Well the kitchen is a breeze
And we can do the things that please
Together, together
let's get together yea yea yea

Bridge:
Singing praises, rapping phrases, Salsa swingin’ movin’ with the changes
Rocknrollin’ Hip Hop boppin’ with the changes, Poly Girl, Poly Girl.

9. I'm Serving Time For My Crime

1 Peter Chapter 4, Matthew 18: 15-35
During the eight years of Prison Ministry, I have heard stories of remorse from the prisoners for actions that hurt people. The key is education, guidance and support from whanau, family and the community.

Verse 1
I'm serving time for my crime, I know now that what I did was out of line
And I feel so alone
You suffered and died for us, You were tortured and nailed to a cross
You were longing for your home
And you felt so alone

Chorus
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
My heart was vengeful, I lost control
Oh but the flesh in me went wild
Now I'm alone paying for my, paying for my crime

Verse 2
This lingering pain in my head, thinking bout things that were said
I'm a long way from my home
If I had my way again, I'd treat you like more than a friend
Im a long way from my home
Im a long way from home

Bridge
You said you must reconcile with your brother
I read it in Matthew, Chapter 5, Verse 24
And I've learned from the last words you said
Forgive them; they know not what they do
I want to do the same Lord, To forgive (I am sorry)
To forgive (Please forgive me)

‘Stacey’s Daily Prayer’

At the end of our fellowship meeting on one Sunday morning, we
were blessed with a prayer which was composed by Stacey who was 19.
After a short reflection on the prayer I came to realize that my children who
are now young adults might experience similar contentions in their daily lives.
Stacey put Ephesians Chapter 4 Verses 17 – 32 into her own words and
recited the verses as follows:

Don’t go to be angry and don’t give the devil a chance.
If you are a thief, quit stealing.
Be honest and work hard, so you will have something to give to people in need.
Stop all your dirty talk.
Say the right thing at the right time and help others by what you say….
Don’t make God’s Spirit sad.
The Spirit makes you sure that someday you will be free from your sins.
Stop being bitter and angry and mad at others.
Don’t yell at one another or curse each other or ever be rude.
Instead; be kind and merciful, and forgive others
Just as God forgave you because of Christ.

GOD GAVE, by Don Trotter 5th July, 2005

If God had a fridge, your name would be on it,
If God had a wallet, your photo would be in it,
He sends you His flowers, each year in the spring,
He sends you His sunrise, each day in the morning.

God did not promise, our days without pain,
Nor laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain.
God gave us the strength, for the toil of the day,
His comfort for tears, and light for our way.

God gave man a woman, for a companion to be,
But to desire they succumbed, and ate the fruit of that tree.
The trevail of labour, God then gave for that reason,
And the sadness of death, at the end of our season.

God gave us free will, to choose whom we love,
And gave us His Word, the way to Him above.
God gave us His gift, of Jesus His Son,
To pay for our sin, so death could be undone.

God gave us His wisdom, that we might have insight,
But we mostly don’t listen, we learn from hindsight.
He made us His temple, for His Spirit to dwell,
But we mostly reject Him, we prefer to rebel.

But, when we repent, and turn away from our sin,
God draws near to us, and the Shepherd comes in.
He gathers us safely, leads us out of our night,
We’re no longer alone, God gave us His light.
